This is exactly what I meant by somewhere else!

I had a couple of weeks between the summer and fall classes at Nova Southeastern University (NSU) where I’m working on a Masters of Science in Management Information Systems. Accordingly, the wife and I decided it was time to head somewhere else to clear out the cobwebs. One of our favorite places on the planet is the Cape Breton region of Nova Scotia. Neither of us is Canadian (yet), but we do know the words to “Oh Canada.” I have decided that God must have certainly spent a couple of extra days creating this place. While we were there the leaves were already changing; how magnificent!

What I like most about Cape Breton is the diverse landscape contained in a 30 minute drive. If you get tired of the beach, turn west and head for the mountains. If you can’t make up your mind, then head northeast and look at both simultaneously! Make no mistake about it, we’re going to head there one day for good! One of my objectives once I’ve completed my degree is to try and get a job teaching at one of the several colleges in Nova Scotia.

I also enjoy the music. As you have probably ascertained, I’m a drummer (and a pilot) . . .

Unlike many drummers, I can read music. Reminds me of a joke:

How do you get a drummer to play quieter?
You put music in front of him!

. . . Cape Breton is alive with music. In fact, it’s difficult to find someone that doesn’t play an instrument of some sort. We love to go to ceilidhs (kay-lee) and listen to the music and dance and just have a good time visiting.

One final thing I enjoy about Cape Breton is that there's always something new and beautiful to look at everywhere you turn. Your only requisite is that you be ready to experience Cape Breton's in its entire splendor.

Cape Breton bids you ciad mile failte (100,000 Welcomes)!!
